Fun Photo Gift or Ultimate Stocking Stuffer!
Here is a cool unique gift idea for any devoted mom, dad, grandparent, or proud aunt or uncle! It also comes in a rectangle and round version. Isn't it always when someone asks to see pictures of the kids or grandkids that you cannot find any, this will solve that dilemma.

Tao Digital Picture Keychain Highlights

Holds 56 photos, period. Surpassing the brag-book standard of 20-30 photographs, toting around a comprehensive collection is a breeze. Utilize TAO's user friendly software to transfer photos directly from your PC or Mac; then share you precious memories with your coworkers and friends.

Bigger, brighter, clearer display. The 1.4-inch digital picture keychain is bigger, brighter, and clearer than before. Three times the resolution of its predecessor, our new model brings crisp images of our loved ones anywhere, anytime.

Rechargable lithium battery . Never worry about batteries! After 30 minutes of being connected to the outlet or computer, your little gadget will brim with 2 1/2 hours of "on" time (which roughly translates to a week or two of standard show-and-tell).
Slideshow & auto-off. With 56 photos, it can get tiring to keep pressing the buttons - so we included a slideshow mode! We're all a little forgetful now and then, and the friendly little keychain will turn off after 3 minutes of neglect.

My baby is ONE!

Isn't he adorable?

I hope everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving holiday. We celebrated on Saturday with my husband's family at our house and it was very nice. We also combined it with our baby's 1st birthday! I cannot believe my baby is ONE! Well, his birthday is actually Wednesday, so not quite yet, but soon enough. He got into the cake pretty good so I was happy, my 3 year old wanted nothing to do with his cake on his first birthday, I had so smear some on him myself to get a picture.

Back to work...lots of Christmas orders coming in now...

Black Friday!
It's Black Friday. I am not much of a shopper, not my favorite thing to do, so I am hibernating today, avoiding any venture out into the cruel, crazy shopper packed world that is out beyond the reaches of my little cul-de-sac.

Actually, most of my Christmas shopping is done, just need the stockings filled really. I made the late night jaunt to Toys R Us last week for the boys and everyone gets personalized photo related gifts which are arriving via UPS, Fedex and USPS every few days, isn't lovely to only have to go to the front porch to get the gifts! I got one I am so excited about this morning, but, alas, I cannot share it with you just yet because you never know who might be lurking on here spying. Don't want to ruin the surprise. Fedex arrived early with a custom gift I ordered for someone and it's FABULOUS!

I suppose this day kicks of the official shopping season so get to it and try to keep it personal and special!

Boxed Wall Frame Sets
If you live in the Northeast and have a Christmas Tree Shops nearby, check out the 5pc Wall Frame Set they have on sales for $12.99. The boxed set comes in choice of black or silver and includes two 11x14, and 8x10 and 2 5x7 frames. It's rare to see a box set that has an 11x14 frame let alone two of them. Perfect to frame a matted 8x10 photo collage and large enough to create visual impact!

Matching frames with similar style and toned photographs make a perfect fireplace mantel display or small picture grouping display on a small wall space.

For a gift idea, buy someone a boxed set of frames and open it and put some of their favorite pictures inside if you can, the work is done for them when they open the gift, all they have to do is choose their spot and hang them up.

The gift of livestock??? Seriously.
I received this catalog in the mail recently, I don't know why, but I thought it was just too interesting not to share with you all even though it has nothing to do with anything digital. It is a unique gift idea though, so I suppose it fits somehow.

The catalog is Heifer International, basically, you can buy livestock for someone in a needy country, the livestock helps them to become self-reliant. Buy them a cow, they have milk to drink and to sell, a sheep, they use wool to make clothes, they can sell the wool, sell clothes, sell the off-spring for money, they have goats, rabbits, bee's, etc...

Pretty interesting. I'm not sure what mailing list I got on to receive this catalog, but it was certainly the most unique gift idea I have seen this year!

Photo Collage theme idea
Does your child participate in a sport's team? How about taking photos of the action, all the kids, and using the team photograph as the centerpiece. Create a collage of a successful year for the team and to remember all the fun and friends your child made. It would be a wonderful additional to the trophy case someday! It also is a great "thank you" gift for the coach of the team.

ABC's of Photography
I just came across this and there are some great tips for anyone who likes to photograph the events in their lives and those who enjoy scrapbooking especially.

Quick ABC's of Photography
By Marcy Larsen

Follow these ABC's of photography and you will have beautiful pictures to add to your scrapbooks. Capture adorable and memorable details of the special event in your life by following these easy steps. If you try one or two new ideas each time you break out the camera, you will soon find yourself snapping photos in exciting ways. People will be amazed at the beautiful images and fun moments you capture with your photo skills.

A Angles
Take your photos from above or below your subject. Some of the best shots are taken sitting on a chair or kneeling on the ground.

B Backlit
For a glowing silhouette effect, have your subject stand in front of a widow or sunny sky. Be sure to use your flash with this one.

C Chronology
Take pictures form the beginning to the end of each event, rather than isolating short to "picture taking time"

D Diagonal Lines
Arrange people to form a visual triangle to create balance and a sense of movement in your pictures.

E Everyone
Make sure you include everyone at the event in pictures. Write names down in a notebook so you don't forget the names.

F Frames
Draw attention to your subject by using frames such as windows, fence posts, and railing.

G Groups
Take pictures in groups such as siblings, grandparents, cousins etc.

H Hands
Get close ups of people using their hands. This would be great for sports, sewing, cooking or body language when talking.

I Individuals
Capture what makes each person unique. Just remember every quirk is fair game!

J Juxtaposition
Arrange people and objects in surprising or unexpected ways.

K K-9's and Kitten
Always remember the family pets; they are a very important part of the family.

L Little Details
Don't forget the decorations or the background settings. These will tie all the photos together.

M Mirrors
Use mirrors, windows, and reflective surfaces to add a fun and unusual effect to your photos.

N Natural Light
The suns natural light is the most flattering light for ant subject.

O Outdoors
Use natural backgrounds as your setting.

P Playtime
Make sure to capture those football games, dance classes, and other playful moments these are memories no one wants to forget!

Q Quick
Be quick with your camera, you don't want to miss a thing.

R Reactions
Keep your camera ready, you never know what special reaction you might miss.

S Self timer
Use this special feature to include yourself in group photos.

T Toys
Kids are so preoccupied with toys; this is a perfect way to catch those candid pictures of your kids.

U U
You shouldn't always be the one with the camera, pass it off so that you are included in shots.

V Values
Show your family's faith, beliefs and charity.

W Weather
Include all the seasons in your photos

X X-treme Close ups
Get close enough to see the freckles or the left-over Birthday cake.

Y Youthfulness
Catch kids' high jinks and scrapes. If your first impulse is to scold, try snapping instead.

Z Zoom
Use your zoom lens when you are far away to catch candid moments.

Remember that there are several different ways to capture all those special moment in your life. Take picture with a formal backgrounds and candid as well. You will find a style that fits you best for all your photos.

Website Updates
The website was updated again today. I changed the navigation as I think the main navigation in the header may have been too blended and people didn't know where to click. I made the links the standard blue and put all the page link on the left side.

I also added a few pages, check out the What Customer's are Saying page, but best of all is a new product I discovered and just added. I'll explain in a separate post.

Photo Collage of a Family Reunion
The following photo collage is of my extended family. As I mentioned in the previous blog entry, my parents went to Italy recently for a large family reunion. They also had their own immediate family reunion, of course, my mother being one of ten children, it was a large gathering none-the-less.

All of my mother's brother's and sister's are there with their children and their children's children, 101 all together immediate family members.

It's the perfect photo collage theme!

Photo Collage, Family Reunion
Recently, my mother's family had a huge reunion in Italy. One man worked very hard to trace the family name genealogy and then contacted as many people as he could and over the course of 2 years or more planned a reunion in the town where the family name orginated. Over 300 family members, most of whom had never met, came from all over the world to this small town in Italy, for this event. I created this photo collage for my mother and the man who planned this event as a souvenir of that special day.

A family reunion is a perfect theme for a collage, it summarizes the event perfectly.

Digital Scrapbooking
Digital Scrapbooking is a growing trend, read on...

The Advantages to Digital Scrapbooking
By Robin Michelle King

So you might be wondering what the craze is when it comes to digital scrapbooking? Doesn’t the actual word ’scrapbook’ connote something to do with photos, glue, paper and cute little metal embellishments? The answer is, of course, yes! But how does that all tie into digital scrapbooking? Well, digital scrapbooking is another way to put it all together, but using your computer to create layouts.

So why would anyone want to do this? Now that cameras are all going digital it just makes sense to use those digital photos right on your computer. So what are some other benefits:

1.) You can branch out from only using 4×6’s. If you create the layout on your computer you can shrink or enlarge any photo to the size of your choice with just a click.

2.) It’s cheaper! Yes, you do have to buy some embellishments and papers when you want your layout to look “real”, but they are much cheaper and you can reuse them again and again! The main cost involved is printing the pages.

3.) No bulky embellishments. Don’t you just hate that you sometimes go a little crazy with the embellishing that you can barely fit a page in the page protector. With digital scrapbooking you have a flat page that you can make look like you have all those fun embellishments.

4.) They layouts are easy to share. You can burn them all on CD and give copies to family and friends. You can easily send them in an email without having to scan. You can print off mini albums of your layouts as presents.

5.) No glue or clean up. You can save a layout page and come back at anytime without having to pull out or put away your stuff. Everything is all there on the computer.

6.) You don’t waste your time as stores - unless you want to . There are so many online stores that you can shop for embellishments, papers, designs, fonts, etc. and you get them immediately - no gas money involved!

Well, I could go on and on. Now does that mean you can’t scrapbook with friends anymore? Of course not. Even an avid scrapbooker like me will probably never go completely digital. But if I ever did switch completely over, my next big scrapbooking purchase wouldn’t be that cut pink tote or a Sizzix machine – it would be a laptop!

Low Light Photography
Here is an article on getting good digital photos in low light situations. Just in time for the holiday festivities by the glow of the Christmas tree lights.

and for more digital photography information from Amy Renfrey, check out
Digital Photography Success

How To Get Better Digital Photos In Low Light Conditions Without Using A Flash
By Amy Renfrey

Digital photography is easy- when you have plenty of light and the conditions are ideal. But, as you may know, lighting conditions in digital photography aren’t always as we would like them. In digital photography its essential that we work with light as much as humanly possible otherwise disappointing results may occur.

One of my subscribers asked me how he could take digital photos at his friends wedding. He did not want to use the flash to distract the bride and groom during the time they were saying their vows. What he was asking me was how to get better digital photos in low light conditions without the necessity of using a flash. It’s a very good digital photography question. Good news it can be done. But like everything in photography there are advantages and disadvantages.

The flash is the biggest solution to low light digital photography. However the problem with this is that not all situations can benefit from using the flash. Not only does it interfere with your “moment” socially and artistically, but the flash can flatten out your digital images. This is especially true for a flash that is built-in on digital cameras. The built in flash (and a flash in general) has the effect of lighting your subject on the front only which compresses the depth in your digital photos. Compressed depth can really decrease the beauty of your subject in your digital photography.

This can be avoided to a certain degree, depending on your subject and by watching how your light falls. Learn how to see how the light falls on your surroundings and your mind will become adept at knowing what works and what doesn’t with the flash

Really, a good way to combat the problem in low light you can try using a higher ISO. Your ISO simply means the amount of sensitivity of light falling on your sensor. For example take traditional photography as a comparison to digital photography. Traditional photography ISO will be film sensitivity. (ISO in traditional terms works with film speed as well.)

The only set back in digital photography ISO is noise. If your ISO is perfect for the photo yet there is a significant increase in noise you can use software to sharpen up your digital photo. There are two good noise reduction software programs called“Noise Ninja” or “Neat Image”. If you don’t push the ISO higher you may find the problem with camera shake if a tripod is not in hand. By adjusting the ISO you will find that noise is better than camera shake. In digital photography noise will always be something to consider.

In digital photography, a higher ISO allows you to take photos in low light situations. In traditional photography you’d have to change your roll of film from. In digital photography ISO give you the opportunity to adjust a setting, rather than fiddle with changing film. This is advantageous if the subject is not going to stay around or you yourself are unable to stay for an extended length of time.

I’ll use another example. Let’s take for example you are taking dome digital shots indoors, like someone speaking, or playing an instrument. Perhaps the flash is not appropriate in this situation. In this case (which happens a lot in digital photography) you would simply adjust the ISO to a higher setting. If you set the camera on “ISO Auto” your digital camera will then detect that a higher ISO is necessary. Alternatively you can set the ISO yourself. This higher sensitivity can give you the opportunity of gaining the right exposure for the shot.

If you find that’s still not right, because your digital photo now has camera shake and you don’t have a tripod, you can in fact decide on the next top ISO which will then enable you to select a faster shutter speed.
